Julia, On Her Prayer Stand

Julia, On Her Prayer Stand” is our new song from our newly recorded album, That Old Kentucky Blackgrass (coming 2007), and is now available on our Myspace Profile. It’s a sparse and psychedelic ditty for the Baby Jesus’ birthday, and I hope you like it.

She keeps asking where the door goes. Well, dear, it opens a wall. Go and open it right now, reveal the great hall- let loose the hose that knows where all the words, they go; the point of this speech: This sequence of events is not coincidence.

Back From Texas

South By Southwest was absolutely amazing, and Austin treated us better than the likes of us deserve. The streets were full of music and people smiling and dorks crying over some amazing set they just saw and us crying over the amazing sets we just saw.

The whole story is forthcoming on I See Sound, but till then, check out Citybeat.

Also, thank you to John, Jon, and Max at Elysium for being so accomodating and hospitable, and to Ron and Kyle for making the "Summercamp" family barbeque my favorite show we've ever played.

FREE SHOW ON FRIDAY - WITH BURRITOS!

This Friday, March 3rd, is our next I See Sound showcase at The Comet in Northside. This month's wackiness involves Cinci's own Lovely Crash, Baton Rouge's Eames Era, and a garbage truck, overfilled with Skin-So-Soft.

And it's free.

And it starts at 9pm.

And while I've got your attention, check this out:

The 20 Bunnies Project:
A somewhat successful experiment

Feb 24-March 25, 2006

Julia Ranz attempted to draw 20 bunnies every day of the year 2005. More process project than drawing show, the results of her effort will be shown at semantics gallery beginning Friday, February 24th, 2006. Call it the application of a conceptual framework over something commonly perceived as cute and beautiful, or just call it an obsession with bunnies. The show will include the BunnyMart where visitors get a chance to draw their own bunnies or select handmade bunny items to take home.

Show continues with Saturday hours noon-4pm through March.

For more information about this show call 513 207-5262

You Would Look Damn Good In Black, My Friend

Crystal is not a scientifically designed half girl/ half bunny hybrid. She is a book whore. She is also the creative genius behind Modern Monologue, and, with her fiance, Matt, makes our t-shirts plus lots of other interesting and strange garment odditties. See it for yourself here: http://modernmonologue.com

Don't be shy to ask for something custom-made. Give 'em a challenge, by God!

And, oh, yeah, here is Bradley Beasley's website if you want more information on his new film, "Summer Camp": http://www.shiny.tv/home.htm

PS: If you would like a half girl/half bunny hybrid (who wouldn't?!?), Matt can hook you up as soon as he gets the rest of the raw genetic materials from Ebay.

South By Southwest

Our South By Southwest showcase will be Wednsday, March 15, at Elysium. We go on at 8pm, and will be one of the first acts to open SXSW. Our official SXSW page can be found at: http://2006.sxsw.com/music/showcases/band/1417.html. We are also playing the private party for filmmaker Bradley Beasley (famous for directing Flaming Lips videos and his documentary on the band, called "The Fearless Freaks") on Saturday. This event is not, unfortunately, open to the public.

Sukpatch (I am the bassman for their set) posted these details about SXSW on their website:

"Look for Sukpatch to be playing in Austin at SXSW (MOSHI MOSHI PARTY). The show will be the first Sukpatch has played in over five years... The show details are as follows: Friday evening, March 17th @ Latitude 30 Austin, TX Sukpatch will be playing with Tilly & The Wall, Best Fwends and Au Revoir Simone (as far as we know)."

ALL AGES SHOW WITH NEWPORT'S FINEST PUNK BAND, PUBLIC DEFENDER!!!

Jeremy & The Donald

Public Defender is comprised of a band of adventurers: a cleric, a thief, a warrior, and a drummer, named Tooth. I'm not even making this up. And those guys are on a quest, man. Of epic proportions.

They quest for The Rock.

But I know a secret. They already have The Rock, having found it in the hole under (bass player) P's Grandma's house a year or so ago. (Here's a story I wrote about it.) They will share it with you if you promise to dance. That's not too much to ask is it?

Bongboy and The Donald

Public Defender: Baby, Come Back (download from I-See-Sound.com), From their Self-Titled EP.

This Sunday, witness The Rock in, dare I say, witness The Rock in Spectacle Form. Public Defender will be with us at The Poison Room on 5th and Plum in downtown Cincinatti, OH. It's an early show because it's a school night and ALL AGES, so show up around 5 pm. It's ten bucks, and Leonidas and Shotgun On Blonde will be there too!
